The idea for "The Drive In" is almost as old as my interest in printmaking. Almost from the beginning I have been interested in combining black and white and color images in one print. The original concept had been the inside of a movie theater. However, as much as I loved that idea, there wasn't enough going on, visually. A trip to a classic car show helped the idea along.Populuxe style and mid century car culture has not been a focus of my work to date, but it is a large part of my intellectual and artistic interest, and I guarantee this print is a symbolic "dipping of the toe" into the populuxe waters,
It was also a hell of a lot of fun to make!
